Do you even know what cybercrime is?
Cybercrime is an illegal, immoral and unauthorized act that involves the misuse of data obtained through computer technology or its alteration. In fact, computers do not allow a new type of crime to be committed, but only provide new technology and new ways to commit already known crimes such as sabotage, theft, abuse, unauthorized use of extortion, blackmail or espionage.
Turkey has been rated as the third largest source of attacks in the world in the past. The characteristics describing the typical profile of Turkish hackers are presented here:
- age between 14 and 45 years, most between 18 and 25 years,
- mostly high school or university graduates and not all have studied computer science,
- new hackers learn hacking forums and mostly use basic hacking tools,
- 92% male, 8% female,
- mostly from middle or lower-income families.
In Turkey, several hacking groups began to emerge after the Internet civilization, such as Ayyıldız, RedHack, B3yaz Hacker, Turk Hack Team, Cyber Warrior (Akıncılar), Türk Güvenliği, and PKK Hack Team.
What are the latest trends in cybercrime?
Phishing remains one of the most successful attack vectors due to its speed, as most phishing sites remain online for only four to five hours. Users report only 17% of phishing attacks and are considered a low-risk type of activity. As a result, only 65% of all URLs are trusted today. This is a burden for consumers and any business with an online presence.
Remote access attacks are among the most common attack vectors in an attached house. Hackers target computers, smartphones, Internet Protocol (IP) cameras, and storage-attached devices (NAS), as these tools typically need to have open ports and forward them to external networks or the Internet.
One of the most common attack vectors on smartphones is related to dangerous browsing (phishing, phishing, malware). According to RSA, more than 60% of online fraud is achieved through mobile platforms and 80% of mobile fraud is achieved through mobile applications instead of mobile web browsers.
Most often entrepreneurs deal with cybercrime data and information leaks, corrupted data, software bugs, virus attacks, security breaches, breach of contract or loss of trust, reputation damage, financial stability, and legal liability.
You are also asking yourself how you can defend yourself against cyberattacks. There is no 100% cyber-attack protection, any entrepreneur can be attacked. Cyber attacks and crimes committed through information and communication technologies are increasingly aggressive. However, cyberattacks can be partially prevented by setting up security measures in the company and not tolerating internal fraud and offenses. Nowadays, it is a great solution to insurance of cyber risks, which is also connected with responsibility for data of entrepreneurs.
And some interesting things to end:
- cybercrimes supporting social media generate $ 3.25 + billion in global revenue per year,
- 85% of organizations reported phishing and social engineering attacks,
- malware is one of the most expensive types of attacks on organizations.
Yüce Yazilim would like to wish you not to be the victim of any cyber attack. Be careful and always be prepared for any possible attack.
